The Standard version features a glossy IPS glass surface with low reflectivity, making it ideal for controlled lighting environments where maximum contrast and color vibrancy are required.
At the core of the Pro Display XDR's performance is its custom direct-lit LED backlighting system featuring 576 local dimming zones. This architecture allows the display to achieve 1,000 nits of full-screen sustained brightness and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness, enabling true Extreme Dynamic Range (XDR) performance with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. The display utilizes an Apple-designed timing controller (TCON) chip to precisely modulate individual LED zones and liquid crystal layers, minimizing light bleed and blooming. Color reproduction is equally advanced, featuring a P3 wide color gamut, true 10-bit color depth, and extensive factory-calibrated reference modes for standards like Rec. 709, DC-P3, and sRGB. To maintain these brightness levels without active fans, the rear enclosure utilizes a structural aluminum lattice that acts as a giant passive heat sink.
