Slide Off the HDD Cover
2 minPress firmly on the plastic hard drive cover at the rear corner of the console and slide it outward to remove it.

Unscrew the Hard Drive Bracket
2 minUse a Phillips #0 screwdriver to remove the single large retaining screw holding the HDD caddy.

Remove the Hard Drive Tray
1 minGrasp the pull tab attached to the hard drive tray and pull the assembly straight out of the bay.

Disconnect the Disc Drive Data Ribbon Cable
3 minUse a spudger to flip up the locking tab on the ZIF connector and slide the wide ribbon cable out.

Unplug the Disc Drive Power Cable
2 minGently pull the cable connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard using tweezers or fingers.

Remove the Disc Drive Screws
4 minUse a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws securing the disc drive assembly to the metal frame.

Lift Out the Disc Drive Module
2 minCarefully lift the entire optical disc drive assembly straight up and clear of the console chassis.

Position the Replacement Disc Drive
3 minAlign the new disc drive assembly with the mounting posts on the chassis and lower it into place.

Reconnect the Ribbon and Power Cables
4 minSlide the ribbon cable into the ZIF connector, close the locking tab, and plug the power connector back in.

Reinstall Metal Shield and Outer Shells
6 minScrew the metal shield back down, then snap the top and bottom outer covers back onto the console frame.
