Step-by-step

Remove battery cover screw
1 minUse a Phillips #0 screwdriver to loosen the captive screw on the battery compartment door on the back of the GamePad.

Remove battery door
1 minLift the plastic battery door away from the GamePad chassis and set it aside.

Disconnect battery pack
2 minUnplug the white battery connector from the circuit board and lift the battery out of the bay.

Peel off screw covers
2 minUse fine tweezers to remove the four rubber screw covers on the back panel to reveal hidden screws.

Remove rear housing screws
4 minRemove the ten Tri-point Y0 screws securing the rear case to the front assembly.

Apply liquid flux
2 minApply a liberal amount of liquid soldering flux across the connector's anchor pins and signal pads.

Desolder damaged port
5 minHeat the port mounting pins with a hot air rework station at 350°C until the solder melts, then lift the port off with tweezers.

Clean PCB pads
3 minUse desoldering wick and a soldering iron to clear residual solder from all copper pads on the mainboard.

Solder replacement port
8 minAlign the new port onto the pads, tack down the side anchor legs, and carefully solder each signal pin under magnification.

Clean flux residue
2 minScrub the soldered area with a cotton swab dipped in 99% isopropyl alcohol to remove leftover flux.
