Step-by-step

Peel off the rear sticker covers
2 minUse precision tweezers to slice through and peel back the warranty sticker and cover label on the back of the console to expose the hidden screws.

Remove the rear chassis screws
2 minUse a TR8 Torx screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the back plastic cover panel to the internal frame.

Slide off the outer rear shell
1 minGently slide the rear plastic housing upward and lift it away from the main console assembly.

Unscrew the bottom base plate
1 minRemove the single TR8 screw located near the bottom foot stand.

Pry off the plastic base plate
2 minInsert a plastic spudger along the seam of the round bottom base and gently pop it free from the chassis clips.

Disconnect the wireless board cables
2 minUse tweezers to carefully detach the Wi-Fi antenna U.FL connectors from the wireless board located on the side.

Unscrew and remove the wireless board
2 minRemove the three TR8 screws securing the wireless board to the frame and lift the board clear.

Disconnect the power switch ribbon cable
1 minUse a spudger to gently lift the locking tab on the power button ZIF connector and slide out the ribbon cable.

Unscrew the power supply unit
2 minRemove the rear screws holding the internal power supply module inside the frame.

Lift out the power supply unit
2 minGently pull the internal PSU straight up to disconnect it from the motherboard power prongs, then lift it out.

Disconnect the optical drive cables
2 minUnplug the power connector and SATA data cable connecting the Blu-ray drive to the motherboard assembly.

Remove the optical drive assembly
1 minLift the optical drive straight out of its bracket bay and set it aside.

Unbolt the cooling fan frame
3 minRemove the long TR10 Torx screws securing the main cooling fan to the top of the chassis.

Disconnect and remove the cooling fan
2 minUnplug the fan header from the board and lift the fan unit out of the console.

Unbolt the inner aluminum cage screws
4 minRemove all perimeter TR10 screws securing the two halves of the metal inner chassis frame together.

Separate the chassis halves
3 minCarefully pull apart the metal sandwich frame to expose the motherboard and heatsink assembly.

Remove the heatsink retention X-clamp
4 minPry up the corners of the metal X-clamp on the backside of the motherboard using a prying tool to release tension.

Separate the motherboard from the heatsink
3 minGently lift the motherboard off the heavy copper vapor chamber heatsink, being careful not to flex the PCB.
