Step-by-step

Peel off the rear sticker labels
2 minUse precision tweezers to peel back the tamper-evident stickers on the back panel to reveal the casing screws.

Remove the rear case screws
3 minUnscrew the two T9 Torx security screws located on the back panel of the console.

Slide off the upper case
2 minPush the upper casing forward toward the front panel to release the plastic clips, then lift it off.

Unscrew the top metal shield screws
4 minRemove the long T10 Torx screws securing the top metal internal frame.

Lift off the metal top shield
2 minCarefully lift the top metal shield straight up and off the lower console chassis.

Disconnect the optical drive cables
2 minUnplug the power and data SATA cables connected to the rear of the optical disc drive.

Remove the optical disc drive
2 minLift the optical disc drive straight out of the console housing and set it aside.

Unscrew the hard drive mounting tray
3 minRemove the T10 Torx screws holding the hard drive assembly tray to the main frame.

Lift out the hard drive assembly
2 minGently tilt and remove the hard drive assembly tray from the console frame.

Disconnect the hard drive SATA adapter
2 minPull the combined SATA power and data cable assembly straight off the hard drive contacts.

Unscrew the hard drive from the bracket
3 minRemove the four T10 Torx screws securing the sides of the hard drive to its metal mounting caddy.

Mount the replacement drive
3 minPlace the new 2.5-inch SATA drive into the metal caddy and reinstall the four T10 Torx screws.
