Samsung launched the Odyssey lineup to consolidate its gaming monitor portfolio under a unified, high performance brand. Ranging from budget friendly flat displays to massive, aggressively curved super ultrawide flagships, the Odyssey family is categorized primarily by tier numbers—G3, G5, G7, G8, and G9—with the "Neo" designation marking the transition to Quantum Mini LED backlight technology, alongside newer QD OLED variants. At the foundational level, the Odyssey G3 offers high refresh rate 1080p gaming aimed at budget esports setups, utilizing flat panels or mild curves with traditional LED backlighting. Stepping up to the G5 introduces QHD (1440p) resolution and Samsung's signature 1000R curvature on many models, balancing price and immersion. The Odyssey G7 established the series' reputation for high speed performance, pairing 240Hz refresh rates with deep VA contrast, robust HDR, and dense curvatures designed to match the human field of view. For high end and ultrawide gaming, the upper tiers push display technology further. The 49 inch Odyssey G9 and Neo G9 feature a 32:9 aspect ratio equivalent to two side by side 1440p displays. The Neo series—including the Neo G7, Neo G8, and Neo G9—integrates Quantum Mini LED local dimming zones, drastically reducing halo effects and enabling high peak brightness for HDR.
