What's going on

Sony SRS speakers use proprietary local RF linking protocols—such as Party Connect, Stereo Pair, and legacy Wireless Party Chain—to sync audio between units.

Users sometimes confuse JBL's PartyBoost protocol with Sony's ecosystem, but these systems cannot talk to each other. Even within Sony speakers, older Wireless Party Chain models (like the SRS-XB31) will not link via Party Connect with newer models (like the SRS-XE200 or SRS-XG300). When pairing drops repeatedly, the issue usually stems from audio codec overhead (specifically LDAC), software mismatch across the two units, or local 2.4GHz wireless interference.

If you have updated both units to identical firmware versions, isolated them from Wi-Fi interference, reset both hardware chips, and Speaker B still fails to link with any other compatible unit, you may be facing an internal component fault.

In portable speakers, dropping the device can dislodge internal Bluetooth antenna traces or damage the secondary 2.4GHz RF amplifier on the main logic board. Additionally, degraded internal lithium-ion batteries may trigger voltage sags whenever the Bluetooth chip operates in high-power master/slave mode, causing localized reboots.

Soft resets vs board/panel work

Nearly all Sony SRS pairing problems can be solved through soft resets, firmware alignment, or network setting adjustments. Re-flashing or clearing saved profiles fixes over 90% of non-responsive Stereo Pair issues across the Sony SRS series.

Physical repair on modern splash-proof (IP67) Sony speakers is difficult. The outer fabric grille and internal rubberized acoustic gaskets are heavily sealed with adhesive to keep water out.
