AOC Gaming Monitor G-Sync / FreeSync Not Working

When G-Sync or FreeSync stops working on your AOC gaming monitor, the issue usually stems from a missing DisplayPort connection, disabled Adaptive-Sync in the OSD, or misconfigured GPU driver toggles.

When this synchronization breaks, you end up with noticeable screen tearing, choppy frame delivery, or black screen flickering whenever a game launches.

Getting VRR running requires three distinct systems to agree: the physical hardware link (cable and port), the monitor's internal firmware (AOC OSD settings), and your operating system's GPU driver stack. If any link in this chain loses configuration, variable refresh rate options disappear or fail to initiate.

  4. Bad Video Port / Cable Bandwidth: Using an uncertified VESA cable or a damaged port that drops the VRR handshake signal.
  5. Corrupted GPU Profiles: Windows updates or dirty driver upgrades overriding display timing profiles.

Quick checks first

Start by isolating the video connection. If you are using an HDMI connection, switch to a dedicated DisplayPort cable. Most NVIDIA GPUs require a DisplayPort connection to pass G-Sync protocols to FreeSync/Adaptive-Sync monitors like those from AOC.

Next, use the tactile joystick on the back or bottom of your AOC screen to open the internal menu. Scroll to Game Settings and verify Adaptive-Sync (or FreeSync) is enabled.
