iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are official: $100 more, variable-aperture camera, Sept 18 launch

Same silhouette, bigger camera story — six-blade variable aperture, Pro photo controls, 4K Dolby Vision. Pre-orders Sept 12. What changes for camera and display repairs.

Apple skipped a fall base iPhone 18 and put the spotlight on iPhone 18 Pro ($1,199) and iPhone 18 Pro Max ($1,299) — $100 above last year’s Pro starters in the U.S.

What’s actually new

  • Camera: 48MP sensor with a variable aperture driven by six thin blades — aimed at low-light and faster capture.
  • Pro controls: white balance, shutter speed, aperture, histogram; Photographic Styles with texture/grain.
  • Video: 4K Dolby Vision HDR with cinematic effects applied after capture.
  • Design: Apple kept the familiar Pro silhouette — good news if your 17 Pro opening technique still applies.

Service calendar

  • Pre-orders: Saturday, Sept 12, 2026 at 5:00 a.m. PT
  • Deliveries / stores: Friday, Sept 18, 2026

Repair angle

Expect the usual Pro stack — screen, battery, charging port, Face ID, wireless coil — plus higher-stakes rear camera / lens / aperture assembly work. Variable-aperture modules are precision parts; aftermarket quality will lag, and calibration failures will look like “software bugs” to customers.

Bottom line: add iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max model pages now so “iPhone 18 Pro screen replacement” and camera queries land on you before GSX parts lists even show up.
