- Replacement volume button flex cable
- Double-sided electronics adhesive tape
- Isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher)
Safety
- Wear an anti-static wrist strap to prevent ESD damage to sensitive board components.
- Disconnect the battery before disconnecting or reconnecting any internal flex cables.
- Do not bend or crease the flexible printed circuit cables during removal or installation.

Step-by-step

Power Down the Tablet
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Insert Plastic Opening Tool
2 minInsert a thin plastic opening tool into the seam between the display assembly and the plastic rear cover near the corner.

Unclip the Rear Cover
4 minSlide a guitar pick around the entire outer perimeter of the tablet to release all plastic retention clips.

Remove the Rear Cover
1 minLift the rear cover straight off the chassis and set it aside.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
2 minUse a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Remove Motherboard Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the motherboard to the frame.

Disconnect the Display Flex Cable
2 minUse a spudger to flip open the locking flap on the display ZIF connector and slide the ribbon cable out.

Disconnect the Volume Button Cable
2 minFlip open the ZIF latch for the volume button flex cable on the motherboard and slide the flex cable out.

Lift the Motherboard
2 minGently lift the top edge of the motherboard up slightly from the frame to give access to the volume button assembly.

Peel Off the Volume Button Flex Cable
3 minUse fine tweezers to carefully peel the adhesive-backed volume button flex cable away from the plastic frame.

Remove the Physical Volume Rocker
1 minPush the plastic volume button rocker inward from the outside frame to pop it out of its slot if it needs cleaning or replacement.

Install the New Volume Flex Cable
3 minAlign the new volume flex cable with the frame recess and press down firmly so the adhesive holds it in place.

Reconnect the Volume Flex Cable
2 minSlide the volume flex cable end back into the motherboard ZIF connector and press the locking latch down.

Reinstall the Motherboard
2 minLower the motherboard back into position over the frame, taking care not to trap any flex cables underneath.

Secure Motherboard Screws
3 minThread and tighten the Phillips #00 screws to hold the motherboard securely to the frame.

Reconnect the Battery Cable
1 minAlign the battery connector over its socket and press firmly until it clicks into place.

Snap On the Rear Cover
2 minPosition the rear cover on the tablet and press along the edges until all plastic clips snap tightly closed.
