Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power Off Tablet
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.
- 2
Remove Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the top edge of the tablet. Push firmly to eject the tray and set it aside.
- 3
Heat Screen Edges
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting along the screen edges for 2 to 3 minutes. This softens the strong display adhesive.
- 4
Apply Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the upper portion of the glass near the edge. Pull upward gently to create a small gap between the display and frame.
- 5
Slice Screen Adhesive
6 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slowly slide it around all four sides. Take care not to insert the pick deeper than 3mm to protect internal flex cables.
- 6
Lift Display Assembly
2 minCarefully tilt the screen open from the right side like a book cover. Do not pull the display away completely yet, as it remains connected by a ribbon cable.
- 7
Disconnect Display Cable
2 minUse a plastic spudger to flip up the locking tab on the display flex connector. Gently pull the ribbon cable out of its socket and set the screen assembly aside.
- 8
Unscrew Shield Plates
4 minUse a precision Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the metal bracket covers over the motherboard.
- 9
Remove Midframe Cover
2 minUse tweezers or a spudger to lift the plastic midframe plate off the logic board. Store the screws organized by location.
- 10
Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minPry the battery flex connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger. This cuts power to the board to prevent accidental shorts.
- 11
Disconnect Camera Modules
2 minDisconnect the front-facing and rear camera press-connectors from the logic board using the flat end of a spudger.
- 12
Disconnect Auxiliary Cables
3 minUnplug the USB-C port ribbon cable, speaker flex cables, and side button connectors from the main board.
- 13
Unscrew Logic Board
3 minRemove the remaining Phillips screws securing the main logic board to the aluminum chassis.
- 14
Remove Logic Board
2 minGently lift the logic board out of the chassis, starting from the top edge. Avoid snagging any lingering flex cables underneath.
- 15
Position Replacement Board
3 minSet the new logic board into place inside the frame. Ensure thermal pads align properly before pressing it flat into the chassis.
