   Turn off the tablet

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

   Warm the display edges

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the perimeter of the screen for two minutes. This softens the strong adhesive holding the display assembly.

   Insert an opening pick

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the screen and pull up to create a gap. Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam.

   Slice the display adhesive

   Slide the pick around all four edges of the tablet to cut through the adhesive. Keep the pick shallow to avoid damaging underlying display cables.

   Pivot open the screen

   Gently lift the display off the frame from the right side like a book. Do not pull it away completely yet, as ribbon cables are still attached.

   Unbolt the connector shield

   Remove the Phillips #00 screws securing the metal shield over the display and battery connectors. Lift the bracket away with tweezers.

   Disconnect the screen flex cable

   Use a plastic spudger to gently pry the display flex cable straight up from its motherboard socket.

   Disconnect the battery

   Pry the battery connector up from the motherboard to cut power to the board and prevent short circuits.

   Remove the power button bracket screws

   Locate the metal retaining bracket over the power/home button assembly inside the frame edge. Remove the Phillips screws securing it.

    Lift out the power button bracket

    Use tweezers to carefully remove the metal bracket covering the internal side of the power button.

    Disconnect the power button flex cable

    Use a spudger to flip open the ZIF locking lever and pull the power button ribbon cable out of its motherboard port.

    Remove the old power button assembly

    Gently pry the power/home button sensor out of its slot in the outer aluminum frame using fine-tipped tweezers.

    Position the new power button assembly

    Align the replacement power/home button inside the frame cut-out and press it securely into place.

    Secure the power button flex cable

    Insert the new ribbon cable into the motherboard socket and flip the ZIF locking clip down to seal the connection.

    Reinstall the button retaining bracket

    Place the metal bracket back over the power button assembly and tighten its retaining screws.

    Reconnect the battery

    Align the battery flex cable over its motherboard connector and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

    Reattach the screen display cables

    Press the display cable back onto its motherboard socket and resecure the metal shield with its Phillips screws.

    Seal the display assembly

    Apply new pre-cut adhesive strips to the tablet frame, align the display panel, and press firmly around the edges to close.
