Step-by-step

Power off the tablet

Attach a suction cup

Insert an opening pick

Slice the perimeter adhesive
5 minSlide the pick carefully along all four sides of the frame to separate the adhesive. Reheat edges if you feel resistance.

Lift the display assembly
2 minSlowly pivot the glass up from the right side like a book cover. Do not pull it completely away yet.

Remove the display bracket
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screw securing the metal cable bracket over the motherboard.

Disconnect the battery
2 minPry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket using the flat end of a plastic spudger.

Disconnect the display flex
2 minUse the spudger to pop the main display and home circuit flex cable off the connector.

Remove the home button flex
3 minUse precision tweezers to gently peel the home control flex cable off the bottom edge of the tablet frame.

Install the new home flex
3 minAlign the replacement home button flex cable over the mounting pins and press it into place.

Reconnect the display cable
2 minAlign the flex connector with the motherboard and press down gently until it clicks into position.

Reconnect the battery
1 minPress the battery cable press-connector firmly down onto the socket on the motherboard.

Secure the cable bracket
2 minPlace the metal cover bracket over the connectors and tighten the Phillips #00 screw.

Apply new screen adhesive
4 minClean off old glue remnants with isopropyl alcohol, then lay down pre-cut adhesive strips along the inner frame edges.

Press the screen closed
3 minAlign the glass screen over the frame and press firmly along all edges to seal the adhesive.
