Step-by-step

Open the Kickstand
1 minFlip open the built-in kickstand completely to reveal the lower rear housing screws.

Remove Kickstand Screws
2 minUse a T5 Torx screwdriver to remove the screws securing the kickstand hinges to the device frame.

Detach the Kickstand
1 minLift the kickstand straight off the chassis and set it aside.

Heat Top Camera Strip
2 minApply heat to the plastic camera cover strip along the top rear edge for about 90 seconds to soften the adhesive.

Pry Off Camera Cover Strip
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick under the plastic camera cover and slide it along the seam to peel it off.

Remove Hidden Frame Screws
3 minUse a T5 Torx driver to remove all screws exposed underneath the camera cover strip.

Unclip the Rear Casing
5 minInsert a plastic prying tool between the display glass and the outer magnesium shell, popping the perimeter clips loose.

Lift Off the Rear Case

Disconnect the Battery Connector
2 minUse a nylon spudger to pry the main battery connector straight up from its socket on the logic board.

2 minGently lift the logic board out from the lower edge and pull it free from the tablet housing.
