Step-by-step

Heat the display edges
3 minApply a heat gun evenly around the outer perimeter of the screen for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup to screen
1 minPlace a suction cup near the top edge of the screen and press firmly to create a seal.

Insert opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then slide a plastic opening pick under the glass.

Slice through perimeter adhesive
8 minSlide guitar picks around all four edges of the tablet to separate the screen from the frame.

Lift the display assembly
2 minGently swing the screen open from the right edge like a book, taking care not to strain the cables.

Disconnect display flex cables
3 minUse a plastic spudger to pry up the metal press connectors securing the display cables to the board.

Disconnect the battery
2 minLocate the battery connector on the lower section of the board and disconnect it using a plastic spudger.

Remove heat sink screws
4 minUnscrew the T3 Torx screws securing the copper heat sink shield over the processor.

5 minRemove all T3 Torx screws holding the logic board down to the aluminum enclosure.

Lift logic board from chassis
3 minCarefully pry the logic board up from the lower left corner and slide it out of the frame.
