Step-by-step

Heat the screen edges
3 minApply a heat gun around the outer glass perimeter for two to three minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the top edge of the glass display and pull upward firmly to create a thin gap.

Insert opening picks
2 minSlide a plastic opening pick into the gap between the glass screen and the magnesium frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive
5 minSlide opening picks along all four edges to slice through the adhesive, keeping picks shallow near the top camera sensors.

Tilt the display open
2 minGently lift the right side of the screen like a book cover, taking care not to strain the flex cables on the left edge.

2 minUse fine tweezers to lift the power and volume button assembly out of the chassis cutout.

Position the new power button module
3 minPlace the replacement power button cable assembly into the upper frame channel and align the button contacts.

Secure the power button bracket
2 minReinstall the two T3 Torx screws into the power button bracket to fix the module in place.

Connect the power button flex cable
2 minInsert the ribbon cable into the motherboard ZIF socket and press down the locking tab to secure it.
