Power off the Surface 3

Heat the lower display edge

Attach a suction cup

Slice left edge adhesive
2 minGuide your opening pick around the bottom-left corner and up the left side of the screen.

Heat the right side of the screen
2 minWarm the right edge of the screen with your heat gun to loosen the glue.

Slice right edge adhesive
2 minRun the pick up the right side of the display to separate the adhesive bond.

Heat the top display edge
2 minCarefully heat the top border of the screen, taking care not to overheat the camera area.

Slice top edge adhesive
3 minSlide the pick shallowly along the top edge to complete the separation of the glass panel.

Pry open the display assembly
2 minGently lift the top edge of the display up like a book cover, pivoting at the bottom edge.

Remove the cable shield screws
2 minUse a T3 Torx driver to remove the small screws securing the metal shield over the display connectors.

Detach the display connector shield
