Step-by-step

Power Down the Device
1 minShut down the Surface 2 completely and unplug all external cables and accessories.

Heat the Perimeter Adhesive
3 minUse a heat gun on low heat around the edges of the display glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the top edge of the display and pull up gently to create a small gap.

5 minCarefully slide opening picks along all four edges to cut through the display adhesive.

Lift the Display Assembly
2 minGently hinge the glass display open from the right side, taking care not to strain connected ribbon cables.

Disconnect the Digitizer Cable
2 minUse a spudger to flip up the ZIF locking flap on the digitizer connector and pull the cable free.

2 minUse tweezers to carefully unplug the left speaker wire harness from its socket on the motherboard.

2 minRemove the single T5 Torx screw securing the left speaker and lift the speaker module out of the chassis.

Disconnect Right Speaker Cable
2 minUnplug the right speaker connector from the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

Remove the Right Speaker
2 minUnscrew the T5 Torx screw holding the right speaker module and lift it out of its recess.

Install Replacement Speakers
4 minPlace the new speaker modules into their housings, secure them with screws, and plug both cable harnesses back in.
