Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minCompletely shut down the Surface Pro X and disconnect all attached cables and power adapters.

Remove SIM and SSD door

Heat display edges
3 minApply a heat gun or heated iOpener around the outer glass border for 2-3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Reinstall metal button bracket
3 minPosition the metal retaining bracket over the button board and tighten the T3 Torx screws.

Reconnect display and battery cables
3 minPress the button flex, display cable, and battery power connectors firmly back onto their motherboard sockets.

Reseal display assembly
5 minApply new pre-cut adhesive strips to the chassis perimeter and press the screen firmly into the frame.
