Power Down the Device
1 minShut down your Surface Pro X completely and disconnect any attached charging cables or accessories.

Eject SIM and SSD Hatch
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the back cover to open the hatch and set the cover aside.

Heat Display Edges
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around all edges of the front glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

1 minPress a suction handle near the top edge of the display and pull up gently to create a small gap.

1 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap between the glass and the outer frame.

2 minGuide the opening pick along the top edge of the screen to cut through the perimeter tape.

Slice Bottom Edge Adhesive
2 minCarefully slide the pick along the bottom border, inserting it no deeper than 3 mm to avoid damaging cables.

Unscrew Display Cable Shield
2 minRemove the T3 Torx screws holding the metal bracket over the display cable connector.
