   Power off the iPad

   Press and hold the top button and either volume button, then slide to power off completely.

   Heat the screen edges

   Use a heat gun on low setting to warm the outer edges of the screen for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Attach the suction cup

   Place a heavy-duty suction cup near the top edge of the screen and press down firmly to create a seal.

   Lift the glass edge

   Pull up on the suction cup handle to create a small gap between the glass screen and the aluminum frame.

   Insert an opening pick

   Slide a plastic opening pick into the gap created beneath the top edge of the glass.

   Slice top adhesive

   Slide the pick along the top edge of the display to slice through the adhesive layer.

   Slice right side adhesive

   Reheat the right edge and carefully slide the pick down toward the bottom corner.

   Move the pick along the bottom edge, taking care around the USB-C port area.

   Slide the pick up the left side, keeping insertion shallow to avoid damaging internal ribbon cables.

    Open the display panel

    Gently lift the right side of the screen and swing it open like a book toward the left edge.

    Unscrew display cable bracket

    Remove the four Tri-Point screws securing the metal display bracket to the logic board.

    Use tweezers to lift the metal shield bracket off the logic board and set it aside safely.

    Use a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery connector off its socket to cut board power.

    Pry up the display and digitizer ribbon cable connectors straight up from their motherboard sockets.

    Scrape off residual frame adhesive with a plastic tool and wipe the frame clean with isopropyl alcohol.

    Align and stick precut double-sided adhesive strips along the perimeter of the aluminum frame.

    Connect new screen cables

    Align the replacement display flex cables over their board sockets and press down gently until they click.

    Position the metal cable bracket over the connectors and secure it with the four Tri-Point screws.
