   Heat the front glass edges

   Apply a heated pad or heat gun along the outer perimeter of the display for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

   Attach a suction handle

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the display, just above the USB-C port, and engage the suction.

   Insert an opening pick

   Pull up on the suction handle to create a small gap, then slide an opening pick underneath the glass.

   Slice the bottom adhesive

   Slide the pick gently along the bottom edge to slice through the adhesive layer.

   Slice the right edge adhesive

   Guide the opening pick around the bottom-right corner and slowly slice up the right edge.

   Slice the top edge adhesive

   Carefully slide the pick across the top edge, taking care not to insert it deeper than 3 mm near the TrueDepth camera sensors.

   Slice the left edge adhesive

   Move the pick along the left edge of the iPad to free the remaining perimeter adhesive.

   Open the display panel

   Gently swing the top of the display open like a book cover, pivoting at the bottom edge.

   Remove the display bracket screws

   Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the small screws holding the display cable shield in place.

    Detach the display cable bracket

    Use precision tweezers to lift the metal shield off the logic board connectors.

    Isolate the battery power

    Slide a plastic battery blocker card beneath the battery contacts on the logic board to disconnect power.

    Disconnect the display flex cables

    Use the flat end of a spudger to gently pop the display cable connectors straight up from their sockets.

    Remove the display assembly

    Lift the display completely off the chassis and store it in a safe, flat location.

    Apply battery adhesive remover

    Dispense a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of both battery cells.

    Unseat the stretch-release tabs

    Locate the black adhesive pull tabs on the edges of the battery cells and peel them back with tweezers.

    Pull the battery adhesive strips

    Slowly pull the adhesive strips out parallel to the chassis until they stretch completely out from beneath the battery.

    Pry up the battery cells

    Insert a wide plastic opening card beneath the battery cells to loosen any remaining adhesive residue.

    Remove the worn battery

    Lift the old battery assembly straight up out of the aluminum housing.

    Clean the battery cavity

    Wipe down the inside of the aluminum frame using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to remove residual glue.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Attach pre-cut adhesive strips firmly to the back of your replacement battery assembly.

    Install the replacement battery

    Lower the new battery into position, press it firmly against the rear case, and remove the battery blocker card.

    Reconnect the display cables

    Align and press down on the display flex connectors until they snap securely into place.

    Reinstall the display bracket

    Place the metal shield over the connectors and tighten the retaining screws to secure it.

    Seal the display assembly

    Apply fresh perimeter adhesive tape, align the screen over the housing, and press along the edges to seal.
