   Power down the iPad

   Press and hold the top button along with either volume button, then slide the screen slider to turn off the iPad completely.

   Heat the front edges

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on medium heat around the outer glass perimeter for two to three minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Attach a suction cup

   Place a heavy-duty suction cup near the top center edge of the glass display, just below the front camera.

   Insert an opening pick

   Pull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then slide an opening pick into the seam beneath the glass.

   Slice along the top perimeter

   Slide the pick carefully across the top edge to cut through the display adhesive, keeping the pick shallow to avoid internal sensors.

   Slice along the left side edge

   Move the pick down the left side frame to release the adhesive bond along that edge.

   Carefully guide the pick across the bottom edge near the USB-C port, inserting the pick no deeper than three millimeters.

   Slide the pick up the right side frame until all perimeter adhesive is completely separated.

   Prop the screen open

   Gently lift the right side of the glass display and prop it open like a book cover toward the left side.

    Unscrew the battery shield

    Use a precision screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the metal battery connector cover plate.
