   Heat the front glass edges

   Apply a heated pad or heat gun around the edges of the screen for two minutes to soften the adhesive beneath. Keep the temperature under 80°C to avoid damaging the display.

   Attach a suction handle

   Place a heavy-duty suction cup near the bottom edge of the display, just above the USB-C port. Press down firmly to create a seal.

   Create an opening seam

   Pull up on the suction handle to create a tiny gap between the display glass and the aluminum frame. Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam.

   Slice the perimeter adhesive

   Slide the opening pick along the bottom edge and up both sides to sever the adhesive bond. Keep the pick shallow along the top edge to avoid damaging the Face ID sensor array.

   Open the display assembly

   Carefully swing the display open from the left edge toward the right, resting it against a stable object so it does not pull on the internal flex cables.

   Remove the display shield screws

   Use a precision screwdriver to remove the four screws holding down the metal logic board shield over the display connectors.

   Detach the display connector shield

   Use tweezers to lift the metal shield off the logic board and set it aside in a magnetic tray.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Insert a plastic spudger under the battery connector and lift it straight up to isolate power to the board.

   Disconnect the display flex cables

   Pry the display cable and digitizer cable connectors straight up from their sockets on the logic board using a plastic spudger.

    Remove the display assembly

    Lift the display assembly away from the iPad frame and place it safely on a clean, soft surface.

    Unscrew the USB-C port bracket

    Remove the screws securing the metal retaining bracket over the USB-C charging port assembly at the bottom of the enclosure.

    Remove the port bracket

    Lift the metal bracket off the charging port using tweezers.

    Unscrew the port logic board connector

    Remove the screws holding the USB-C port board connector directly to the logic board.

    Remove the old USB-C port

    Gently lift the charging port assembly up out of its recessed slot in the frame and slide it off the logic board.

    Seat the new USB-C port

    Align the replacement USB-C port into the lower housing slot and slide its connector onto the logic board socket.

    Fasten the port logic board screws

    Thread and tighten the screws securing the USB-C port connector to the logic board.

    Reinstall the USB-C port bracket

    Place the metal retaining bracket back over the charging port and secure it with its original screws.

    Reconnect the display cables

    Align the display and digitizer flex connectors over their board sockets and press gently until they snap into place.

    Press the battery connector firmly back onto the logic board terminal.

    Position the display connector shield over the cables and secure it with the saved screws.

    Clean old frame adhesive

    Apply high-grade isopropyl alcohol to the aluminum perimeter and scrape away leftover adhesive using a plastic tool.

    Apply replacement adhesive strips

    Place pre-cut adhesive strips along the inner rim of the frame and peel off the protective backing.

    Seal the display assembly

    Align the screen with the frame edges and firmly press down along all sides to seat the display into the adhesive.
