   Power off the device

   Press and hold the top power button along with either volume button, then slide the screen slider to turn off the iPad.

   Heat the front glass edges

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the perimeter of the screen for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

   Attach a suction cup

   Place a suction handle near the top edge of the screen and pull up firmly to create a small gap.

   Insert an opening pick

   Insert an opening pick into the gap between the display bezel and the aluminum enclosure.

   Slice left edge adhesive

   Slide the pick along the left edge of the iPad to cut through the adhesive layer.

   Slice bottom edge adhesive

   Move the pick carefully along the bottom edge, keeping the pick insertion shallow near the USB-C port.

   Slice right edge adhesive

   Continue slicing along the right perimeter to separate the screen from the body.

   Slide the pick along the top edge cautiously to avoid damaging the Face ID and camera sensors.

   Open the display panel

   Gently lift the right edge of the display and fold it open to the left like a book cover.

    Unscrew display cable metal shield

    Remove the three Phillips #00 screws securing the metal display bracket to the main board.

    Remove display cable shield

    Use precision tweezers to lift the display shield off the board and place it aside.

    Disconnect the display cables

    Use the flat end of a spudger to pop the display connectors straight up from their sockets.

    Detach display assembly

    Lift the entire display assembly off the iPad body and set it in a safe area.

    Remove battery screw

    Unscrew the single Phillips #00 screw securing the battery connector to the logic board.

    Insert battery blocker

    Slide a plastic battery blocker pick between the battery contacts and the logic board to prevent shorts.

    Apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol around the battery stretch-release tabs.

    Expose adhesive pull tabs

    Use tweezers to peel back the black pull-tabs located on the sides of the battery cells.

    Grasp the pull-tab and slowly stretch it out horizontally until the entire strip releases.

    Pull remaining adhesive strips

    Repeat the stretch-and-pull technique for the remaining battery adhesive pull-tabs.

    Pry up the battery

    Insert a plastic opening card under the battery to gently loosen any stubborn glue residue.

    Remove the battery

    Lift the original battery cell out of the rear aluminum enclosure.

    Clean the battery recess

    Wipe down the battery recess in the chassis using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

    Install new adhesive strips

    Apply pre-cut battery adhesive strips directly to the backside of the replacement battery.

    Position new battery

    Lower the new battery into the enclosure and press down firmly to secure the adhesive bond.

    Pull out the plastic battery blocker pick and reinstall the battery contact screw.
