   Heat the Screen Edges

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer along the perimeter of the screen for two minutes to soften the adhesive beneath. Keep the heat source moving constantly to avoid scorching the LCD.

   Attach Suction Cup

   Place a suction cup on the top edge of the screen near the front camera. Pull upward steadily to create a slight gap between the glass and the aluminum frame.

   Slice Display Adhesive

   Insert an opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Slide the pick carefully around the edges to cut through the screen adhesive, taking care near the volume button cables.

   Open Display Assembly

   Gently swing the screen open from the right side to the left side like a book cover. Do not pull the screen away entirely as delicate flex cables are still connected to the logic board.

   Unbolt Battery Cover Plate

   Locate the metal battery connector shield near the center of the board. Remove the screws securing this protective cover plate using a precision screwdriver.

   Remove Battery Cover

   Use precision tweezers to lift the metal battery connector shield off the logic board. Set it aside in a organizer tray to keep track of its hardware.

   Disconnect Battery Connector

   Pry the battery press connector straight up from its socket on the logic board using the flat end of a plastic spudger. This cuts power to the board and prevents electrical short circuits.

   Unscrew Display Shield

   Remove the retaining screws holding the display cable shield in place over the board connectors. Store these screws separately as they vary in length.

   Detach Display Cables

   Lift the metal display shield away with tweezers. Carefully pop the display ribbon cable press connectors off the logic board with a spudger.

    Remove Display Assembly

    Lift the display assembly free from the aluminum chassis and set it in a safe, soft location face-down. This provides clear access to the internal components.

    Disconnect Camera Flexes

    Unplug the front FaceTime camera and rear camera flex cable connectors from the upper section of the logic board using your plastic spudger.

    Unplug USB-C and Speaker Flexes

    Disconnect the USB-C charge port flex cable along with the upper and lower speaker cable press connectors. Ensure no surrounding surface-mount components are damaged.

    Disconnect Antenna Connectors

    Use tweezers or a spudger to gently lever up the coax antenna connectors from their sockets near the edges of the board. Take care not to deform the delicate metal sockets.

    Remove Logic Board Screws

    Unscrew all remaining standoff and Phillips screws anchoring the main logic board to the iPad chassis. Double-check all screwholes to ensure no fasteners are missed.

    Pry Up Logic Board

    Apply a few drops of 99% isopropyl alcohol around the underside of the logic board to weaken any underlying adhesive. Carefully pry the board up using a plastic spudger.

    Remove Logic Board

    Gently lift the logic board out of the iPad frame, tilting it clear of any remaining flex cables. Place the logic board on an anti-static mat for servicing.
