   Power off the tablet

   Press and hold the top button and volume button simultaneously, then slide to power off. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

   Heat the display edges

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the outer edges of the screen for two minutes. This softens the underlying perimeter adhesive.

   Attach the suction cup

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the display glass. Pull up firmly to create a small gap between the glass and the body frame.

   Insert an opening pick

   Insert a thin guitar pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Do not insert the pick deeper than 3mm to avoid damaging internal display ribbon cables.

   Slice the perimeter adhesive

   Slide the opening pick around all four edges of the front glass to cut through the screen adhesive. Reapply heat if the adhesive cools down.

   Open the display assembly

   Gently swing the display assembly open from the right side, opening it like a book cover. Do not pull the screen away entirely as internal flex cables are still connected.

   Unscrew the main board shield

   Remove the screws securing the metal shield plate over the battery and display connectors. Set the screws aside in an organized organizer tray.

   Disconnect the battery

   Use a plastic spudger to gently pry the battery connector up from its socket on the logic board. This cuts power and prevents short circuits during the repair.

   Disconnect the display cables

   Pry up the display and digitizer flex cables from the logic board using the flat end of a spudger. Remove the front glass assembly and set it aside safely.

    Unscrew the top button shield

    Locate the metal retention bracket covering the top button and Touch ID assembly at the top edge of the frame. Remove the securing screws.

    Remove the top button bracket

    Lift out the metal bracket using precision tweezers. Store it carefully alongside its corresponding screws.

    Unseat the button flex cable

    Apply mild heat to the top outer frame to soften the adhesive under the flex cable. Carefully pry the flex cable off the inner frame using a spudger.

    Remove the top button module

    Push the top button mechanism inward from the outside frame to pop it free from its mounting recess. Lift the old top button assembly out of the tablet.

    Install the new top button assembly

    Guide the replacement top button and flex cable into the frame cutout from inside the chassis. Ensure the button sits flush with the outer frame edge.

    Secure the button bracket

    Position the metal retention bracket back over the button module. Reinstall and tighten the screws until snug without overtightening.

    Reconnect the display and battery cables

    Align and press down on the display flex cable connectors until they snap into place. Reconnect the battery connector last.

    Reinstall the main shield

    Place the main metal shield over the logic board connectors. Fasten it down securely using the original screws.

    Apply new perimeter adhesive and seal

    Clean off old adhesive, apply fresh pre-cut adhesive strips around the frame perimeter, and align the display. Press firmly along all edges to reseal the tablet.
