   Power off the device

   Press and hold the sleep/wake button until the slider appears. Slide to completely power down the iPad Mini 4.

   Heat the display perimeter

   Apply heat to the outer edges of the screen for two minutes using a heat gun to soften the frame adhesive.

   Attach the suction cup

   Press a heavy-duty suction cup onto the lower center portion of the front glass near the home button.

   Lift the glass edge

   Pull up firmly on the suction cup handle to create a small separation gap between the glass and the aluminum frame.

   Insert an opening pick

   Slide a plastic opening pick directly into the gap created at the bottom edge.

   Slice the bottom adhesive

   Slide the pick carefully along the bottom edge, taking care not to insert it deeper than 3 mm.

   Slice the left edge adhesive

   Move the pick around the lower-left corner and slice all the way up the left side of the iPad frame.

   Slice the top edge adhesive

   Cut through the adhesive along the top edge while taking caution around the front-facing camera assembly.

   Slice the right edge adhesive

   Slide the pick along the right edge, keeping the insertion depth minimal to protect the underlying flex cables.

    Open the display assembly

    Gently hinge the display assembly open from the top edge down, leaning it upright like a book cover.

    Remove shield bracket screws

    Unscrew the four Phillips #00 screws securing the metal display cable bracket to the logic board.

    Remove the metal shield

    Use tweezers to lift and remove the metal shielding bracket covering the display and battery connectors.

    Disconnect the battery

    Insert the flat edge of a spudger beneath the battery connector pry tab to disconnect power.

    Pry up the LCD and digitizer connectors straight up from their sockets on the logic board.

    Lift the entire display assembly off the frame and set it down on a clean surface.

    Remove home button bracket screws

    Unscrew the small Phillips screws securing the metal home button bracket on the back of the old screen.

    Transfer the home button assembly

    Gently pry up the home button flex cable using a spudger and remove the home button assembly.

    Secure home button to new display

    Align the home button assembly onto the new display screen and reinsert its bracket and screws.

    Clean frame adhesive residue

    Scrape off residual adhesive around the aluminum frame using a plastic pry tool dipped in isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply new frame adhesive

    Lay down fresh pre-cut adhesive strips along all four inner borders of the aluminum housing.

    Connect display cables to motherboard

    Snap the new display's digitizer and LCD ribbon cable connectors into their motherboard sockets.

    Reconnect the battery

    Press the battery connector firm back into place on the logic board.

    Reinstall the metal shield

    Place the cable shield over the connectors and replace the four Phillips screws.

    Peel adhesive backing

    Remove the protective plastic film from the pre-installed adhesive strips around the frame.

    Press the screen into place

    Align the new screen carefully with the housing and press firmly along all edges to seal it.
