Step-by-step

Heat the display edges
3 minApply heat around the perimeter of the front glass for two minutes using a heat gun or iOpener to soften the display adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower glass panel just above the Home button.

Insert opening pick
2 minPull up firmly on the suction cup to create a thin gap and slide an opening pick under the glass edge.

Slice display adhesive
5 minSlide the pick carefully along all four sides of the frame to cut through the sticky tape holding the panel.

Open the display panel

8 minHeat the solder joints using a soldering iron and desoldering wick to detach the broken charging port flex.

Clean the board pads
2 minWipe the circuit board contact pads thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab to remove residual solder and flux.

Solder the new port
10 minAlign the replacement charging port flex pins precisely onto the pads and solder each joint firmly into place.

Reinstall the logic board
