Heat the front glass edges
3 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the outer edges of the glass panel for two minutes. This softens the strong adhesive holding the digitizer to the frame.

Attach suction cup to screen
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower-left corner of the glass panel. Pull gently upward to create a small separation gap.

Insert opening pick into gap
2 minInsert a plastic guitar pick into the gap created along the bottom edge. Keep the pick shallow to avoid damaging internal antenna cables.

Slice perimeter display adhesive
4 minSlide opening picks along the left, top, and bottom edges to cut through the adhesive. Avoid inserting picks deeply along the right side where flex cables sit.

Open front glass digitizer
1 minGently lift the glass panel open toward the right side like a book cover. Lay it flat next to the iPad frame without straining the flex cables.

Unscrew the LCD panel
2 minRemove the four Phillips screws located at each corner of the LCD display panel. Store these screws carefully in a organizer tray.

Pivot the LCD screen

2 minRemove the small Phillips screws securing the volume button metal bracket to the upper corner of the aluminum frame.

Peel up volume flex cable
2 minCarefully pry the volume button flex cable away from the internal sidewall using a plastic prying tool. Take care not to tear adjacent cables.

Install replacement volume flex cable
3 minAlign the new volume button flex cable and buttons onto the mounting pegs inside the housing. Reattach the metal retention bracket and tighten its screws.

Reconnect display assembly cables

Reinstall EMI shield and close frame
