   Power Off the iPad

   Press and hold the power button, then slide to power down the iPad Mini 3 completely.

   Heat the Front Glass Edges

   Use a heat gun or hairdryer along the display perimeter for two minutes to soften the strong adhesive.

   Attach Suction Cup

   Place a suction cup near the top edge of the front glass and pull upward gently to create a thin gap.

   Insert Opening Picks

   Slide a plastic guitar pick into the gap and slowly slice through the adhesive around the perimeter.

   Protect the Touch ID Cable

   Keep picks shallow near the bottom home button area to avoid severing the fragile Touch ID ribbon cable.

   Open the Front Glass

   Gently swing the digitizer glass open from the left side, resting it like a book cover.

   Remove LCD Corner Screws

   Unthread the four Phillips #00 screws located at each corner of the LCD panel.

   Pry Up the LCD

   Carefully lift the top edge of the LCD panel and tilt it forward onto the opened front glass panel.

   Unscrew the Metal EMI Shield

   Remove the 16 Phillips screws securing the large metal shield plate over the motherboard and battery connection.

    Remove the Shield

    Lift the metal EMI shield out of the aluminum casing and set it aside.

    Disconnect the Battery

    Insert a plastic guitar pick underneath the battery contact tab to sever electrical connection to the logic board.

    Disconnect the LCD Cable

    Pry up the LCD ribbon connector from the logic board using a plastic spudger.

    Disconnect the Digitizer Cable

    Disconnect the home button and digitizer connectors, then set the combined display assembly aside.

    Soften the Battery Adhesive

    Apply high-percentage isopropyl alcohol along the edges of the battery or warm the rear casing with heat.

    Pry Out the Old Battery

    Slide a wide plastic pry tool under the battery to break the adhesive strips, taking care not to puncture the cell.

    Clean Casing Residue

    Wipe away remaining adhesive strips and residue from the inner aluminum housing using isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply New Battery Adhesive

    Affix fresh pre-cut adhesive strips onto the underside of your new replacement battery.

    Align the battery connector with the motherboard contact pad and press the battery firmly into the housing.

    Attach the digitizer and LCD flex cables back to their corresponding logic board sockets.

    Apply fresh display adhesive tape along the frame, fold the front glass down, and press firmly along the edges.
