   Power down the iPad

   Press and hold the sleep/wake button, then slide the power switch to turn off the iPad Mini 2 completely.

   Heat the front display perimeter

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer around the outer edges of the glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive underneath.

   Attach suction cup to lower corner

   Place a suction cup on the bottom-left corner of the glass panel and press firmly to secure suction.

   Insert opening pick

   Pull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and slide a plastic opening pick beneath the glass.

   Slice left side adhesive

   Slide the pick along the left edge of the screen to cut through the adhesive layer.

   Slice top edge adhesive

   Carefully run the pick along the top edge, taking care not to insert it too deeply near the front camera.

   Slice right side adhesive

   Move the pick down the right edge of the iPad frame to separate the side adhesive.

   Slice bottom edge adhesive

   Pass the pick along the bottom edge, using shallow strokes to avoid damaging the home button flex cable.

   Open digitizer like a book

   Gently lift the right side of the front glass and hinge it open toward the left edge of the iPad.

    Unscrew LCD corner screws

    Remove the four Phillips #00 screws located at the four corners of the LCD panel.

    Fold down the LCD panel

    Lift the top edge of the LCD panel up carefully and flip it forward onto the opened front glass.

    Unscrew the 16 Phillips #00 screws securing the large metal shield plate over the logic board.

    Remove the metal shield plate

    Lift the metal EMI shield plate straight up and lift it away from the iPad frame.

    Unscrew battery lock bracket

    Remove the single Phillips screw securing the battery connector lock bracket.

    Disconnect the battery

    Insert a plastic spudger under the battery contact terminal to disconnect power from the logic board.

    Disconnect the LCD cable

    Use the tip of a spudger to snap the LCD connector straight up off its logic board socket.

    Disconnect digitizer cable

    Pry up the digitizer ribbon cable connector from its socket on the logic board.

    Remove old screen components

    Set aside the disconnected LCD panel and damaged front glass digitizer assembly.

    Clean old adhesive from frame

    Scrape away remaining adhesive residue along the aluminum frame using isopropyl alcohol and a plastic scraper.

    Connect new digitizer cable

    Align and press the replacement digitizer cable firmly into its logic board socket.

    Connect LCD cable

    Snap the LCD ribbon cable connector back onto its designated socket on the logic board.

    Reconnect battery and bracket

    Remove the spudger isolating the battery, reinsert the screw bracket, and tighten the battery screw.

    Reinstall metal shield plate

    Position the metal EMI shield back into the chassis and secure all 16 Phillips screws.

    Secure the LCD panel

    Flip the LCD panel back into its housing and replace the four corner Phillips screws.

    Place new double-sided adhesive strips along the top, bottom, and side frame edges.

    Seal the replacement screen

    Peel off the adhesive backing film, lower the digitizer glass onto the frame, and press firmly around the borders.
