Step-by-step

Heat the Display Edges
3 minApply a heat gun around the outer edges of the glass for 2-3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the top edge of the screen and pull upward firmly to create a small gap.

Slice Display Adhesive
5 minInsert a guitar pick into the gap and slice through the adhesive along the perimeter of the front panel.

Open the Digitizer
2 minGently lift the digitizer glass and pivot it open to the right like the cover of a book.

Unscrew the LCD Screen
3 minRemove the four Phillips #000 screws securing the corners of the LCD panel.

Flip the LCD Panel
2 minCarefully lift the LCD panel from the top and fold it down over the digitizer glass.

Remove EMI Shield Screws
4 minUnscrew the seven Phillips screws holding the metal EMI shield plate to the chassis.

Remove the EMI Shield
2 minLift the metal shield out of the device to expose the logic board connectors.

Disconnect the LCD Cable
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the LCD connector straight up from the logic board.

Disconnect the Digitizer Cable
3 minPry up the digitizer flex cable and home button flex cable from their logic board sockets.

Disconnect the Battery
3 minRemove the battery terminal screw and insert a plastic pick under the contact to break the circuit.

Disconnect Antenna and Dock Cables
4 minDisconnect the dual Wi-Fi antenna coaxial cables and the dock connector flex cable using a spudger.

Unscrew the Logic Board
5 minRemove all Phillips screws securing the logic board assembly to the aluminum rear enclosure.

Remove the Logic Board
5 minGently pry up the logic board from the right side to release underlying adhesive and lift it free.
