Step-by-step

Heat the front panel edges
3 minApply heat with a heat gun or heating pad around the outer edges of the glass for two minutes to soften the frame adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
2 minPlace a heavy-duty suction cup near the top edge of the front glass and pull upward gently to create a gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPush a thin plastic opening pick into the gap between the glass and the aluminum bezel.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
5 minSlide the pick around the edges of the display to slice through the adhesive, avoiding the lower right side where flex cables lie.

Hinge open the digitizer panel
2 minGently lift the glass digitizer from the left side and swing it open like a book toward the right.

Remove the LCD corner screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the four corner screws holding the LCD panel to the frame.

4 minSquirt a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the battery edges to break down the underlying glue.

Pry up the battery gently
6 minInsert a wide plastic pry card underneath the battery cells and slowly lift to detach the adhesive from the frame.

Remove old battery adhesive
4 minScrape off residual glue from the interior metal case using a plastic spudger and isopropyl alcohol.

Install replacement adhesive strips
3 minPlace new pre-cut double-sided adhesive tape into the battery recess inside the rear housing.
