   Power Off the iPad

   Immediately press and hold the Top Button and Volume Button to turn off the iPad Air 5. Do not plug in a charger under any circumstances.

   Heat the Display Edges

   Apply a heat gun or heated pad around the perimeter of the front screen for 2-3 minutes to soften the adhesive. Keep heat below 80°C (175°F) to protect the LCD.

   Attach Suction Cup

   Place a heavy-duty suction cup near the bottom edge of the glass screen, just above the USB-C port area. Press firmly to create a seal.

   Insert Opening Pick

   Pull up gently on the suction cup to create a small gap between the display glass and aluminum enclosure. Insert a thin opening pick into the gap.

   Slice Perimeter Adhesive

   Slide the pick carefully around all four edges of the iPad screen to cut through the adhesive. Avoid inserting the pick deeper than 4mm near the right side to prevent damaging ambient light sensor flex cables.

   Open Display Panel

   Gently hinge the display assembly up from the left long edge like a book cover. Lean it against a steady object so it stays supported without straining the internal ribbon cables.

   Remove Display Shield Screws

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the metal display cable shield to the logic board. Lift the shield away with tweezers.

   Disconnect Battery Connector

   Insert a plastic spudger under the battery contact lever on the logic board and lift it straight up. Disconnecting battery power immediately stops further electrical shorting.

   Disconnect Display Cables

   Pry up the display press connectors from the logic board socket using the flat tip of a spudger. Lift the display screen free from the rear case.

    Remove Logic Board Bracket Screws

    Unscrew all Phillips screws holding down the metal protective brackets over the logic board components. Set the brackets and screws aside in an organized tray.

    Disconnect Flex Cables

    Use a spudger to carefully unplug all remaining flex cables from the logic board, including camera, speaker, button, and USB-C connectors.

    Remove Logic Board

    Remove the remaining mounting screws securing the logic board to the aluminum chassis. Carefully pry the board free from light thermal adhesive using a plastic spudger and remove it.

    Clean Liquid Corrosion

    Submerge or scrub affected areas of the logic board with 99% isopropyl alcohol using a soft-bristled brush. Gently scrub away white or green corrosion deposits near chips and connectors.

    Dry Logic Board

    Blow away excess alcohol and moisture using short bursts of compressed air. Allow the logic board to air-dry completely in a dry area for at least 30 minutes before reassembly.

    Reinstall Logic Board

    Place the dry logic board back into the rear case, securing all logic board screws and reconnecting all flex cables securely.

    Seal Display Panel

    Reconnect the battery, attach the display connectors and metal shield, apply fresh display adhesive strips around the perimeter, and press the display firmly closed.
