Discharge the Battery
5 minDrain the iPad battery below 25% before starting the repair. A charged lithium-ion battery can catch fire if accidentally punctured.

Heat the Display Perimeter
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the screen edges for two minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the top center of the screen, just above the front-facing camera.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a gap and slide a plastic opening pick under the glass.

Slice Top and Bottom Adhesive
3 minSlide the pick along the top and bottom edges of the frame to cut through the screen adhesive.

3 minMove the pick down the right edge, taking care not to insert it deeper than 3 mm to avoid damaging internal cables.
