Step-by-step

Heat the Display Perimeter
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around all four edges of the front glass for two to three minutes to soften the display adhesive.

Attach a Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower left corner of the screen assembly, pressing down firmly to secure the suction.

Slice Bottom Adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick under the glass along the bottom edge.

Slice Side Adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully around the bottom-left and left edges to cut through the perimeter tape. Do not insert the pick deeper than 4 mm.

Slice Top Adhesive
3 minContinue sliding the pick along the top edge near the camera array, keeping the pick shallow to avoid damaging sensitive sensors.

Open the Display Assembly
2 minGently lift the left edge of the display assembly and swing it open toward the right side like a book.

Unscrew Display Cable Bracket
3 minUse a precision Phillips driver to remove the four screws securing the metal display cable shield to the logic board.

1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the metal shield covering the display and battery connectors.
