   Power off the iPad

   Press and hold the sleep/wake button, then slide the power off slider to completely shut down the device.

   Heat the screen perimeter

   Apply heat to all four edges of the display using a heat gun on low setting to soften the adhesive.

   Attach the suction cup

   Press a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the screen, just above the Home button.

   Create an opening seam

   Pull up gently on the suction cup and slip a plastic opening pick under the glass edge.

   Slice bottom edge adhesive

   Slide the opening pick along the bottom perimeter to slice through the display adhesive.

   Slice right edge adhesive

   Move the pick around the corner and carefully slide it up the right side of the iPad.

   Slice top edge adhesive

   Continue slicing along the top edge while avoiding deeper insertion near the front camera.

   Slice left edge adhesive

   Slice gently along the left edge, keeping the pick insert depth to less than a quarter inch.

   Open the display

   Lift the top edge of the display panel and hinge it open towards the bottom like a book.

    Locate the display bracket

    Find the metal shield covering the display cable connectors on the bottom corner of the logic board.

    Unscrew display cable bracket

    Remove the three Phillips #00 screws securing the display cable shield.

    Remove display bracket

    Use tweezers to lift the metal display shield out of the iPad body.

    Disconnect display cable

    Pry the display cable straight up from its socket on the logic board using a spudger.

    Disconnect digitizer cable

    Pry the digitizer cable connector off the logic board using the flat end of a spudger.

    Separate display assembly

    Lift the entire original glass screen assembly away from the rear enclosure.

    Remove Home Button tape

    Peel back the black tape covering the Home button mechanism on the back of the original screen.

    Unscrew Home Button bracket

    Remove the two Phillips #00 screws holding the metal Home button bracket in place.

    Transfer the Home Button

    Carefully pry up the Home button gasket assembly and set it into the new screen.

    Secure Home Button bracket

    Position the metal bracket over the transferred Home button and reinstall the two screws.

    Clean frame residue

    Scrape remaining adhesive off the aluminum frame using a plastic opening tool and isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply fresh adhesive

    Lay down custom pre-cut adhesive strips along the cleaned edges of the aluminum housing.

    Connect replacement screen

    Snap the digitizer and display cables onto their respective logic board sockets.

    Reinstall cable shield

    Place the metal shield over the ribbon cable connectors and reattach the three Phillips screws.

    Seal the iPad screen

    Peel the protective backings off the adhesive strips and firmly press the new screen into the frame.
