   Heat the Display Edges

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun along the perimeter of the iPad display for 2 minutes. This softens the strong adhesive holding the screen to the aluminum frame.

   Attach Suction Cup

   Place a suction cup on the lower portion of the screen above the home button. Press down firmly to seal the cup against the glass.

   Slice Lower Adhesive

   Pull up on the suction cup while inserting an opening pick beneath the glass. Slide the pick along the bottom edge to slice the adhesive bond.

   Unseal Side Edges

   Slide opening picks along both long edges of the iPad Air 2. Keep the pick shallow on the right side to avoid damaging the display flex cables.

   Open Display Assembly

   Gently lift the display assembly from the right edge, swinging it open like a book cover. Lean it against a stable object to prevent strain on the cables.

   Unscrew Display Bracket

   Remove the three Phillips #00 screws securing the display cable metal bracket to the logic board. Set the screws aside in an organized tray.

   Disconnect Display Flex Cables

   Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the digitizer and display LCD connectors straight up from their sockets. Lift the display screen completely away from the iPad.

   Isolate Battery Connection

   Insert a plastic battery blocker pick between the battery contacts and the logic board screw pad. This prevents short circuits during board removal.

   Disconnect Camera Cables

   Use tweezers or a spudger to detach the front-facing camera and rear-facing camera ribbon cables from the top of the logic board.

    Disconnect Wi-Fi Antennas

    Pry up the two Wi-Fi antenna coaxial cable connectors from the bottom edge of the logic board using the tip of a spudger.

    Remove Logic Board Screws

    Remove the four Phillips #00 screws securing the main logic board and lightning connector assembly to the enclosure.

    Warm Logic Board Adhesive

    Apply heat to the back of the aluminum casing directly behind the logic board for 1-2 minutes. This weakens the adhesive holding the board down.

    Pry Up Logic Board

    Insert a flat plastic spudger beneath the logic board near the center, gently lifting upward. Work slowly around the lightning port area to free the adhesive without bending the board.

    Remove the Logic Board

    Lift the logic board out of the rear enclosure, taking care not to snag any remaining antenna wires. Place the board on an anti-static mat for inspection or repair.
