   Power off the iPad

   Press and hold the top power button, then slide the on-screen toggle to shut down the device completely.

   Heat the front glass perimeter

   Use a heat gun on a low setting to warm the outer edges of the front glass panel for about two minutes.

   Attach a suction cup

   Press a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the front glass, positioned directly above the home button.

   Create a lower edge gap

   Pull upward on the suction cup while holding down the aluminum frame to create a slight gap between the glass and frame.

   Insert an opening pick

   Slide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap near the bottom edge of the screen.

   Slice the bottom adhesive

   Slide the pick along the lower bezel to cut through the adhesive, taking care not to insert it deeper than 3mm near the home button.

   Slice the left edge adhesive

   Reheat the left glass edge and run your opening pick up toward the top corner to separate the adhesive.

   Warm the right glass edge and slide an opening pick from the bottom corner up to the top right corner.

   Carefully slice along the top border while keeping the pick insertion shallow to protect the camera and sensor array.

    Open the display assembly

    Gently lift the display panel from the bottom edge and swing it open like a book, resting the top edge against a support.

    Unscrew the display bracket

    Use a Phillips #00 precision screwdriver to remove the three screws securing the metal display cable shield.

    Remove the cable bracket

    Use tweezers to lift and remove the metal cable bracket from the logic board area.

    Disconnect the display cables

    Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to pop up the display, digitizer, and home button flex connectors from their sockets.

    Lift the entire front glass and LCD assembly off the iPad body and store it in a safe place.

    Turn the iPad over and apply heat evenly to the back of the aluminum enclosure behind the battery cells.

    Drip a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the upper edges of both battery cells to soften the adhesive.

    Pry up the left battery cell

    Slide a wide plastic opening card under the left battery cell and push it inward to separate the cell from the rear casing.

    Pry up the right battery cell

    Insert a plastic opening card beneath the right battery cell and gently work it back and forth to cut the remaining glue.

    Remove the old battery

    Lift the loosened battery cells out of the iPad body, ensuring the battery connector clears the logic board terminal.

    Clean the casing interior

    Wipe down the inside surface of the aluminum housing using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to remove adhesive residue.

    Install the new battery

    Apply new adhesive strips to the housing, align the new battery contacts with the logic board, and press the battery firmly into place.
