   Power off the device

   Press and hold the top button and either volume button until the power slider appears. Slide to turn off the iPad completely before proceeding.

   Heat the lower display edge

   Use a heat gun or hairdryer on a low setting to warm the bottom perimeter of the glass for about two minutes. Ensure the glass is warm to the touch but not hot enough to burn.

   Attach suction cup

   Place a suction cup onto the lower glass panel near the USB-C port. Press down firmly to create a secure seal.

   Create initial gap

   Pull up on the suction cup with firm, steady pressure to create a slight gap between the glass and the aluminum frame. Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap.

   Slice right edge adhesive

   Slide the plastic opening pick along the right edge to slice through the display adhesive. Leave a pick inserted in the corner to prevent the glue from resealing.

   Heat the upper display edge

   Apply heat along the top edge of the screen for one to two minutes to soften the underlying adhesive.

   Slice top edge adhesive

   Insert a second opening pick and carefully slide it across the top edge. Take extra care around the front-facing camera array.

   Heat the left display edge

   Warm the left side of the front glass with your heat gun to soften the glue.

   Slice left edge adhesive

   Guide an opening pick along the left edge, keeping the insertion depth shallow to avoid damaging underlying flex cables.

    Slice bottom edge adhesive

    Finish slicing the adhesive along the bottom edge, working carefully around the lower bezel area.

    Open the display panel

    Gently swing the display open like a book cover from the right side. Do not pull the display completely away, as display cables remain attached.

    Unscrew display cable shield

    Use a precision screwdriver to remove the retaining screws from the metal EMI shield covering the display connectors.

    Remove display cable shield

    Use tweezers to lift and remove the metal display shield from the logic board.

    Disconnect the battery

    Insert a plastic spudger or battery isolation pick into the battery connector to cut power to the board before disconnecting sensitive components.

    Lift the damaged screen assembly completely away from the iPad body and place it aside.

    Scrape off residual adhesive around the perimeter of the aluminum housing using a plastic tool and isopropyl alcohol.

    Peel the protective backing off your pre-cut adhesive strips and apply them precisely onto the iPad's frame perimeter.

    Connect the new screen

    Align and press the replacement screen's cable connectors into their board sockets until they snap into place, then reinstall the metal shield and screws.

    Seal the new screen

    Peel away the top film from the adhesive strips, align the new screen accurately over the frame, and press firmly along all edges to seat the seal.
