   Power Down the iPad

   Press and hold the top button and volume button until the slider appears. Slide to turn off the iPad completely before beginning.

   Heat the Perimeter Seals

   Apply heat evenly along the edges of the front glass using a heat gun set to low for about two minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the display assembly.

   Attach a Suction Cup

   Place a suction cup near the middle of the screen's left edge and press down to seal it firmly. Pull gently upward to create a slight gap between the glass and the body.

   Slice the Screen Adhesive

   Insert a guitar pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Slowly slide the pick around the perimeter to sever the adhesive tape.

   Open the Display Panel

   Carefully lift the left side of the display assembly like the cover of a book. Rest it against a stable object so you do not strain the display flex cables.

   Remove the Logic Board Shield Screws

   Use a precision screwdriver to unbolt the screws securing the metal shield over the board connectors. Set the screws aside in an organized layout.

   Detach the Cable Bracket

   Use plastic tweezers to lift and remove the metal shield bracket from the logic board. Keep track of its orientation for reassembly.

   Disconnect the Battery Cable

   Pry the battery connector up from its socket on the logic board using a plastic spudger. Disconnecting power prevents short circuits while working inside.

   Disconnect the Screen Flex Connectors

   Use a spudger to gently pop the display and digitizer connectors straight up from the motherboard. Move the screen to a safe, clean surface.

    Unbolt the Pencil Charger Screws

    Locate the magnetic Apple Pencil charging strip along the side frame. Remove the retaining screws holding the charger module to the inner chassis.

    Disconnect the Pencil Charger Cable

    Lever the ribbon cable connector for the Apple Pencil charging module up from its logic board terminal using a plastic spudger.

    Remove the Pencil Charger Assembly

    Gently pry the damaged Apple Pencil charging board and magnet assembly away from the inside edge of the aluminum frame. Clean off any leftover adhesive.

    Install the Replacement Charging Strip

    Align the new Apple Pencil magnetic charging strip into the recessed channel on the side frame. Press it into place firmly.

    Secure the Module Screws

    Drive the small retaining screws back into the Pencil charging module to secure it to the iPad chassis.
