Step-by-step

Heat the front glass edges
3 minApply a heat gun or heated pad around the perimeter of the iPad display for 2-3 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup to the glass
2 minPlace a suction cup near the top edge of the screen and pull upward firmly to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick under the screen
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the seam created by the suction cup.

Slice through the glass adhesive
5 minGently slide picks along the top and side edges to cut through the display adhesive, avoiding the lower right side where flex cables sit.

Open the digitizer glass
2 minHinge the digitizer open from the left side like a book, taking care not to strain the bottom flex cables.

Unscrew the LCD corner screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the four corner screws securing the LCD panel.
