Step-by-step

Heat front glass edges
3 minApply heat around the outer display bezel using a heat gun set to low heat for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the top edge of the screen and pull upward gently to create a slight gap.

Insert guitar pick
1 minSlide a plastic guitar pick into the gap between the glass and the aluminum frame.

Slice perimeter adhesive
5 minSlide guitar picks around the edges of the display to cut through the remaining adhesive, avoiding the home button area.

Open digitizer panel

3 minRemove all Phillips screws securing the logic board and the Lightning connector to the aluminum case.

Warm rear enclosure
3 minHeat the back of the iPad aluminum shell directly behind the logic board to loosen the adhesive underneath.

3 minInsert a plastic spudger under the logic board edges and carefully lift it out of the chassis.
