Step-by-step

Heat the front edges
4 minApply a heat gun along the glass border for 2-3 minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
2 minPress a suction cup onto the lower portion of the screen near the home button.

Insert an opening pick
3 minPull up on the suction cup and slide a plastic guitar pick into the seam under the front glass.

Slice perimeter adhesive
8 minSlide picks around the top, left, and right edges, taking care to avoid the Wi-Fi antenna at the bottom right.

Open the digitizer panel
2 minGently fold the front glass open to the right like a book cover without straining the flex cables.

Unscrew the LCD panel
3 minRemove the four Phillips #00 screws securing the corners of the LCD assembly.

2 minPry up the broad Lightning connector flex cable from its socket on the lower end of the board.

Unscrew the logic board
5 minRemove all remaining Phillips #00 screws attaching the logic board to the aluminum rear casing.

Soften logic board adhesive
3 minWarm the back of the metal casing directly behind the logic board with a heat gun for 1 minute.

Remove the logic board
3 minInsert a flat plastic opening tool under the board edge and lift it carefully out of the frame.
