   Heat Outer Glass Edges

   Use a heat gun to warm the outer perimeter of the iPad display glass to soften the underlying frame adhesive. Keep the heat gun moving constantly to prevent thermal damage to the screen.

   Attach Suction Cup

   Press a heavy-duty suction cup onto the lower section of the front glass near the Home Button. Pull gently upward on the suction ring to form a slight separation gap.

   Insert Opening Picks

   Slide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap between the glass bezel and the aluminum frame. Keep the insertion depth under 3 mm to avoid severing underlying cables.

   Slice Perimeter Adhesive

   Slide plastic picks carefully along all four sides of the front glass panel to slice through the adhesive layer. Take extra caution around the lower right side to avoid the Wi-Fi antenna.

   Open Front Glass

   Gently lift the right edge of the front glass and hinge it open towards the left like a book cover. Rest the opened panel flat against your work surface.

   Unscrew LCD Screen

   Remove the four Phillips #00 screws located at the four corners of the inner LCD frame. Keep track of these screws for reassembly.

   Lift LCD Panel

   Insert a plastic pry tool beneath the top edge of the LCD display and carefully lift it up. Flip the LCD forward over onto the opened front glass.

   Remove Display Shield Screws

   Remove the seven Phillips #00 screws securing the main board metal display cover shield. Lift the shield out of the case.

   Disconnect Battery Pad

   Slide a plastic pick or battery isolation pick between the logic board contact pad and the battery terminal to disconnect power.

    Disconnect Display Cable

    2 min

    Pry the display flex cable connector straight up off its logic board socket using a spudger. Safely remove the LCD display panel from the device.

    Disconnect Digitizer Cables

    Flip up the ZIF connector locking levers for the two digitizer flex cables. Slide the ribbon cables out and set the front glass panel aside.

    Unscrew Dock Cable Bracket

    Remove the two Phillips #00 screws securing the metal retaining bracket over the Lightning dock flex cable connector.

    Disconnect Dock Flex Cable

    Use a plastic spudger to pry the Lightning dock cable connector straight up off its board socket.

    Heat Lower Enclosure

    Apply moderate heat to the bottom exterior of the aluminum casing to loosen the strong adhesive beneath the dock connector cable.

    Unscrew Lightning Port

    Remove the two Phillips #00 screws securing the metal Lightning port bracket to the inside bottom edge of the aluminum frame.

    Pry Out Damaged Charging Port

    Gently pry the Lightning port assembly up from the rear housing frame with a flat plastic opening tool. Remove the assembly from the iPad.

    Clean Adhesive Residue

    Dampen a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol to clean old adhesive tape and grime out of the lower chassis connector channel.

    Install Replacement Port

    Guide the new Lightning charging port into the casing cutout and press the attached flex cable firmly down along its recessed route.

    Fasten Port Screws

    Reinstall and tighten the two Phillips #00 screws to lock the Lightning port mounting bracket securely against the frame.

    Reconnect Dock Cable

    Align and press the flex cable connector onto the logic board connector until it clicks. Reattach the metal retaining bracket and secure its screws.
