   Heat the front display edges

   Apply heat around the perimeter of the front panel for two minutes using a heat gun to soften the adhesive.

   Attach a suction cup

   Place a suction cup on the lower center of the glass screen just above the Home button.

   Insert an opening pick

   Pull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and slide a plastic opening pick under the glass.

   Slice the right edge adhesive

   Slide the opening pick along the right edge of the frame to cut through the front panel tape.

   Slice the top edge adhesive

   Move the pick around the top corner and across the top edge, taking care near the front camera.

   Slice the left edge adhesive

   Slide the pick along the left edge, stopping before the lower-left corner to avoid damaging the digitizer ribbon cable.

   Open the glass panel

   Gently lift the top edge of the front glass like a book cover and hinge it toward the left side of the iPad.

   Uncover the LCD corner screws

   Use tweezers to peel back the small pieces of black tape covering the four corner screws on the LCD frame.

   Remove the LCD screws

   Unscrew the four Phillips #00 screws securing the LCD display to the aluminum enclosure.

    Lift the LCD panel

    Carefully pry the top edge of the LCD up and fold the panel over towards the Home button side.

    Disconnect the battery contact

    Remove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the logic board battery contact and insert a plastic blocker card beneath it.

    Remove the display cable shield

    Remove the five Phillips #00 screws holding the metal display cable shield and lift the shield off the board.

    Disconnect the digitizer cable

    Use a plastic spudger to pop the digitizer cable connector straight up off its socket.

    Disconnect the display cable

    Pry the LCD ribbon cable connector up from the logic board to free the panel.

    Remove the glass and LCD assemblies

    Lift both the front glass and LCD panels completely off the rear enclosure and place them on a clean surface.

    Softener the battery adhesive

    Apply heat to the outer back side of the iPad enclosure for three minutes to weaken the strong battery adhesive.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Drip high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and outer edges of the battery cells.

    Pry up the right battery cell

    Insert a wide plastic opening card under the right battery cell and pry upward slowly until it separates.

    Pry up the left battery cell

    Work the plastic card under the left battery cell, using steady pressure to release the adhesive completely.

    Remove the old battery

    Lift the entire battery out of the rear casing and remove it from the device.

    Clean the casing interior

    Wipe away residual adhesive and battery gel from the interior aluminum housing using alcohol and a lint-free rag.

    Attach pre-cut adhesive strips to the back surface of the replacement battery.

    Install the new battery

    Position the new battery in the casing, align the board connection terminal properly, and press down firmly.
