Heat the Display Edges
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the perimeter of the front glass for two minutes to soften the underlying adhesive.

Insert an Opening Pick
2 minSlice into the top corner adhesive seam using a thin plastic opening pick, taking care not to insert it deeper than half an inch.

Slice Perimeter Adhesive
5 minSlide opening picks around the glass frame to separate all sides. Keep clear of the bottom-right corner to avoid damaging the Wi-Fi antenna.

Open the Digitizer Assembly
1 minGently fold the front glass panel open toward the left edge of the iPad like a book cover.

Unscrew the LCD
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the four corner screws securing the LCD frame.

Lift the LCD Panel
2 minGently pry up the top edge of the LCD panel and flip it over onto the opened front glass.

2 minFlip up the retaining latch on the display ZIF connector, slide the LCD cable out, and lift the LCD out of the device.

2 minSlide a plastic battery blocker pick under the battery contact pad to cut electrical power to the logic board.

Disconnect the Dock Connector Flex
2 minPry the dock connector ribbon cable straight up off its socket on the logic board using a spudger.

Disconnect Antennas and Audio Cables
3 minPop the Wi-Fi antenna coaxial connector off its socket and disconnect the headphone jack flex cable from the logic board.

Disconnect Control Flex Cables
3 minDisconnect the volume button, power button, and rear camera flex connectors from the top section of the logic board.

Remove Logic Board Screws
3 minRemove the four Phillips screws holding the logic board assembly to the aluminum rear enclosure.

Extract the Logic Board
3 minGently pry up the logic board from the lower edge and lift it clear of the iPad body.
