   Heat the display perimeter

   Apply a heated pad or heat gun set to 70°C around the outer glass edges for 2 minutes to soften the screen adhesive.

   Apply suction cup to the glass

   Press a heavy-duty suction cup onto the lower portion of the screen near the Home edge.

   Insert plastic opening pick

   Pull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then slide a thin opening pick beneath the glass.

   Slice bottom and side adhesive

   Slide the pick along the bottom edge and up the right side to slice through the perimeter adhesive.

   Slice top edge adhesive

   Carefully guide the pick along the top and left edges, keeping the pick shallow to avoid internal sensors.

   Pivot the screen open

   Gently lift the right edge of the display assembly and open it sideways like a book cover.

   Unscrew display shield bracket

   Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the metal logic board shield.

   Remove logic board shield

   Use tweezers to lift the metal shield plate off the board and place it aside.

   Isolate the battery power

   Slide a plastic battery blocker or guitar pick under the battery contact to cut power to the logic board.

    Use a plastic spudger to pry the display and digitizer press connectors straight up from the board.

    Separate screen from frame

    Lift the entire screen assembly off the iPad body and set it in a safe area.

    Remove the screws securing the metal bracket over the USB-C port connector.

    Lift the metal bracket away using tweezers to expose the charging port flex connector.

    Disconnect charging port cable

    Pry the USB-C port flex connector straight up from its socket on the logic board using a spudger.

    Apply light heat to the lower frame, then peel the port flex cable off the aluminum enclosure.

    Lift out old charging port

    Unscrew the port anchor screws at the bottom frame and remove the failed USB-C port.

    Slide the replacement USB-C port into the bottom frame slot and align the screw holes.

    Press the flex cable connector down onto the logic board socket until it snaps into place.

    Reinstall the metal bracket over the port connector and tighten its securing screws.

    Attach the display and digitizer connectors to the logic board and remove the battery blocker.

    Clean frame adhesive residue

    Scrape off old adhesive strips with a plastic tool and clean the perimeter with isopropyl alcohol.

    Lay down pre-cut adhesive strips onto the aluminum enclosure perimeter and peel off the backing film.
