   Power Down the iPad

   Press and hold the top button and either volume button until the slider appears. Slide to power off the device completely.

   Heat the Display Edges

   Use a heat gun around the outer glass perimeter for two minutes to soften the frame adhesive. Keep the heat gun moving constantly to avoid scorching the LCD.

   Attach the Suction Cup

   Press a suction cup firmly onto the lower edge of the front glass, near the home edge. Pull upward steadily to create a micro-gap between the glass and frame.

   Insert the Opening Pick

   Slide a plastic guitar pick into the small gap created by the suction cup. Do not insert the pick deeper than 3 mm to avoid damaging underlying display flexes.

   Slice Frame Adhesive

   Slide the pick around the perimeter of the screen to cut through the display adhesive. Place additional picks in corners to prevent the adhesive from resealing.

   Open the Display Assembly

   Gently swing the display open from the left edge like a book page. Support the screen against a solid object so it does not pull on fragile cables.

   Unscrew the Display Shield

   Use a precision screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the metal logic board shield in place. Organize the screws by location as they are different lengths.

   Remove the Cable Shield

   Use tweezers to lift the metal shield off the logic board and set it aside safely.

   Disconnect the Display Cables

   Pry the display and digitizer flex connectors straight up from their logic board sockets using a plastic spudger. Lift the screen panel away from the enclosure.

    Unscrew the Port Bracket

    Remove the two screws securing the metal retention bracket over the USB-C port connector. Lift the bracket clear of the board.

    Disconnect the Port Flex Cable

    Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to pop the USB-C port flex connector off the logic board.

    Warm the Lower Housing

    Apply light heat to the bottom rear exterior of the enclosure for 45 seconds to loosen the strong adhesive under the port flex cable.

    Unseal the Port Flex

    Slide a thin prying tool under the USB-C flex ribbon cable to detach it from the aluminum case floor.

    Remove the Damaged Port

    Unscrew the bracket screws holding the port directly to the bottom wall. Carefully slide the USB-C assembly out of the frame cutout.

    Install the Replacement Port

    Align the new USB-C port module and slide it firmly into the bottom frame cutout. Secure it using the mounting screws.

    Connect and Secure Cable

    Press the port flex ribbon connector squarely onto the logic board socket until it clicks. Reattach the metal bracket using its dedicated screws.

    Reconnect Display and Test

    Reconnect the digitizer and display flex cables, reinstall the main shield, and plug in an Apple Pencil adapter to test charging before final sealing.

    Reseal and Close Frame

    Apply new pre-cut adhesive strips along the frame border, lower the display into alignment, and press gently along edges to seal.
